Case Study: PDAs and Head Cameras for Practical Learning (Selby College)

Learner Needs
Skills for Working Life is an entry level course. These learners need to be able to record horticultural and hospitality & catering projects. They also need to be given instructions and demonstrations which they can repeatedly access as to how to lay a table, prepare a meal, plant, weed etc.

Technology

It is impossible to repeatedly demonstrate, and to observe all assessments.
The technology of helmet cameras and PDAs will allow the lecturer to download a demonstration to each learners’ PDA and will allow the learners to film their work and upload it to their Red Halo account for the lecturer.
