Learner Needs
We wanted to extend our use of text messaging and podcasting in the curriculum areas of pre-apprenticeship to Engineering, and our course for those with learning difficulties, Destination Work.
The aims were to ensure good communication, notification and pastoral support were provided to the learners, and to use video and audio materials to make the learning more accessible and engaging.

Yorkshire Coast College has established the use of SMS text and podcasting as a means of communication and for the dissemination of materials. It has also pioneered linking learning materials to mobile phones.
Using proven technology, we wanted to be able to deliver rich audio, visual and textual materials to support the learner with an emphasis on alternate formats to provide a publish once reach many solution.
