Learner Needs

There is a need to enable many more students with a wide range of learning difficulties and physical disabilities to access lightweight, portable, but powerful IT devices.

The technology supports and enhances learning in a broad variety of ways, both in classroom situations and whilst studying independently in college and at home.

This video shows students giving their own feedback on various technologies and outlining how the equipment is helping their learning.

The challenge was to help students with a variety of learning difficulties to develop their own learning and organisational skills to become competent independent learners. The longer term goal was to give them the organisational skills to live independently.

The project wanted to use mainstream technologies wherever possible, embedding the support into and across the whole curriculum.
